San Diego triumph highlights weekend wrap

Here's a look back at some of the key weekend series in college baseball:

San Diego rides the Waves

After dropping the opener Friday, San Diego took the last two games of their series with Pepperdine to increase their lead in the conference race to four games.

Pepperdine took the opener on Friday with a 5-2 win, but San Diego's pitching shut their opponents down after that. The Toreros bounced back Saturday to take a 9-1 win, then posted a 2-0 shutout to take the series.

Sun Devils tame the Bruins

Arizona State's bats were hot for much of the weekend as they took two from UCLA on the road.

The Sun Devils won the opener 10-3 and took the nightcap 11-8. UCLA claimed the middle game of the series with an 8-3 win.

Gamecocks bounce back

South Carolina rebounded from last weekend's disaster at LSU to take two of three from Florida at home.

After dropping the opener 9-3, South Carolina rallied for a 6-5 win Saturday and claimed the finale with a 9-6 win to maintain control of their destiny in the SEC team race.

Texas handles Baylor

Texas managed to take two of three from Baylor in a weekend series that could determine bracket seeding for the Big 12 tournament.

The Longhorns exploded for a 12-1 win on Friday and took the finale of the series 2-0. Baylor won the middle game of the series 6-1.

Titans beat UCSB

In a key Big West matchup, Cal State Fullerton maintained its hold on first place by taking two of three from UC-Santa Barbara over the weekend.

The Titans won the opener 7-4, then saw the Gauchos come back for a 10-2 win to even the series on Saturday. Cal State Fullerton left little doubt in the finale, though, pounding UCSB for an 11-1 win.
